MotoGP: Whiting and Uncini approve the new-look Barcelona

Charlie Whiting, F1 Race Director and Franco Uncini, MotoGP Safety Delegate, visited the Catalonia circuit yesterday morning.

The meeting was called to check modifications made to the Barcelona track in January.

The modifications regarded the F1 circuit chicane and the creation of a new run-off area at the exit to Turn 13. MotoGP will use Turn 10 (CaixaBank) of the F1 layout, the turn located at the end of the back straight before entering the stadium. The new track length is 4652 metres.

In addition to these changes, the Astroturf to the right of Turns 10 and 11 and on the left of Turns 12, 13, 14 and 15 will be removed for bike races. The cement kerb to the left of Turn 14 has been removed and replaced with a removable red kerb which will be taken away for bike racing.
