Marquez: My fuel? Rival riders changing bikes

He is 23 years old and holds 5 world titles, 3 of which are in MotoGP in just 4 years. The numbers do not tell the whole story of Marc Marquez but they draw a fairly accurate picture. The little cannibal, although still very young, has already written a page in motorcycling history.

With so many awards in such a short amount of time, one may think that the Spaniard feels somehow fulfilled.

Nothing could be farther from the truth, and he is the one who said so in an interview with Motorcycle News: “It won’t be hard to find more motivation for 2017, because I am fuelled by the other riders changing manufacturers and wanting to still beat them - he explains - Yamaha will be very strong with both riders, and Jorge with the Ducati. The biggest threat for me will be Viñales/Rossi or Rossi/Viñales. It’s too early to say if Maverick will be harder to beat than Valentino, but he’s fast already.

In fact, next year many riders will be on a new bike, from the aforementioned Lorenzo and Viñales, all the way to Iannone. Has Marc ever thought of switching colours?

Many riders have changed manufacturers, and not many have spent their whole career with one factory. In my heart for now, though, it just says to stay at Honda and to believe in Honda. In five years, maybe I’ll have another motivation, but not now” is his reply.
