Team MV Agusta Reparto Corse has acquired a prestigious and interesting addition: riding the 675 3-cylinder from Varese will be American Patrick Jacobsen, 23 years old and with a very promising future ahead of him.
He goes by “PJ” and in Supersport he has already raced with Kawasaki and Honda, bringing home 2 wins and a total of 13 podiums. In 2015, he finished the championship in the 600 class in second place behind Turkish rider Kenan Sofuoglu. His riding style is typically “made in the USA”, in other words, massive drifting going into corners and sharp, essential lines. It is a riding style born out of his preferred training grounds, the dirt track, where he still trains.
The American is leaving the Ten Kate team, coming out of the Honda camp where he has also participated in the important Suzuka 8 Hours, but evidently, the charm of the Italian bike played a fundamental role in the Yankee rider’s choice. For MV this is also a great deal: PJ is young and holds an important passport that is not very common among those available.
After a brief test conducted on the Jerez track, an agreement was struck: “I tested the F3 675 in Andalusia and had an excellent feeling on it right away - PJ recounted - so, I’m really looking forward to getting back on the bike for some more tests. I’d like to thank MV Agusta and the team for this fantastic opportunity.”
