For Danilo Petrucci (with a new ‘naked’ hairstyle after losing a bet) this was a special day. After missing the Valencia tests, at Jerez was the first time in the saddle of the Ducati GP17 that he will ride next year.
He finished the day in 9th place but, much more importantly, he had positive sensations astride the new Desmosedici, as he recounts in the video interview above.
“It was a nice day but also difficult because of the cold - he says - Mostly I focused on not doing any damage and becoming one with the bike. In fact, I worked on race pace without doing a time attack.”
Although not 100% satisfied, Petrux is optimistic.
“I would have liked to have been in the lead, but I am happy. I discovered a lot of things and I think that the bike has good potential,” he states.
Tomorrow he will be back on the track to confirm his impressions. What is his goal?
“I would like to stay ahead of the rest and that is possible - he replies - Even if I am not, I will still leave here with a smile on my face. Today was just the first day of work for me in view of 2017.”
