First Loris Capirossi, and now Alberto Puig is named as a possible candidate for one of the roles in MotoGP after the departure of Javier Alonso.
A former rider, in fact the fastest Spaniard in the 500 class in 1995, when he won the Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez, crossing the line in front of Cadalora and Criville, on a Honda, he was forced to abandon his career following a serious accident at Le Mans in 1995 as a result of which he practically lost the use of his calf.
After retiring from racing, he then worked, for a 13-year period up until 2013, alongside Dani Pedrosa, as his manager and mentor. His draconian methods were well known, such as showing his pupil slower lap times in order to push him harder. Puig currently runs the Shell Advance series, the Asian championship designed to encourage the champions of tomorrow.
