SBK, Melandri: “The Panigale is out of this world!”

A very positive Aragon test for the Italian, increasingly at ease on the Ducati and moving ever closer to team-mate Davies

Melandri: “The Panigale is out of this world!”

Step by step, or leap by leap, Marco Melandri improves his understanding with the Panigale R, Ducati's SBK weapon, the only twin to line up in the production-derived series.

After two days testing the red bike, the Italian improved his performance with the new bike that he will compete with next year, after a year away from racing, and it's interesting to hear his opinions: “Despite the fact it's been cold, we're have two great days here at Aragon- declares a happy Marco- I've found the same sensations that I had at Valencia. Yesterday I tested various chassis parts that we will use next year, I only had some problems in braking, we were sorted with the engine brake, also because we only worked a little on the electronics."

On day two you've come very close to Davies…

Yes, it's been a great day and the bike has worked well. We continued with work on the chassis, testing several new things, some of which were good, some of which need to be looked at. We also tested some small engine details and the engineers will now analyse all the data collected”.

So how are feeling?

“I'm very pleased, the team and I have worked thoroughly, looking at every aspect of the bike. I'm curious to see how we'll go at Jerez next week, I hope to find the same sensations that I've had here at Aragon; I'm very pleased with our progress”.

Style-wise, you are still one of the best to watch....

Thanks. Yes, while I'm riding I really feel comfortable. This Ducati Panigale is… out of this world!”
