The front row is a great starting point, but it's not enough. Valentino lays his cards on the table and is missing the ones he needs to fight against the Spaniards at Valencia.  The Ricardo Tormo has never been his favourite track and the situation's no different this year. Though that doesn't mean things can't still change tomorrow.

We were too far off with the bike set-up at the start, at this track we need a different set-up to those of the last races - explains the Doctor - But we've done well to react, I'm pleased and now we can work on the details”.

How can you sum up these first two days?
I've struggled a little too much and so being on the front row is more important than usual. Already this morning we were able to improve but not enough. We took another step forward in FP4 and I felt good in qualifying. I would have liked to lap in 1’29” too, but we weren't able to”.

Are you in the best position for tomorrow?
It's difficult to pass at this track so it's good to start at the front, but I have more work to do. Right now, Lorenzo and Marquez are faster than me, also Vinales in terms of pace”.

What are you missing?
Traction at the rear, the bike moves a lot and this bothers me. With the new tyres I'm fast, but after a few laps I am really struggling, and then my rivals are faster”.

Have you already decided on the tyre?
The hard tyre slides a lot but with the soft it looks like we won't even reach the end of the race”.

Has Lorenzo already booked the win?
He's having a great weekend and is very fast, probably he has extra motivation seeing as it's his last race with the Yamaha. He can definitely win, but Marquez is on the same level. A lot will depend on whether he can break away early on”.

And you?
I hope I can be close to them, but at the same time I have to watch out for Vinales, he's very strong on the used tyres”.
