After the presentation of the fully loaded versions at Intermot 2016, the “base” version of the new 2017 CBR1000RR Fireblade, the superbike with the weight/power ratio improved by 14%, will be introduced at Eicma 2016. The weight drops 15 kg, whereas there is a significant increase in power, estimated at 11 HP, since it now allows the engine to reach 192 HP. Of course, sophisticated electronics and a dedicated chassis architecture are part of the package. The aesthetics remain essentially unchanged compared with the SP and SP2, but the colour schemes change: Victory Red and Matt Ballistic Black Metallic.

ELECTRONICS - In terms of electronics, the equipment package includes the Honda Selectable Torque Control traction control feature, wheelie and stoppie control, adjustable engine brake, latest generation ABS, selectable Riding Modes and the Power Selector feature. That is a whole lot of electronics that allow the end user to enjoy a bike that has made motorcycling history and continues to do so.

CHASSIS ARCHITECTURE - The aluminium twin spar frame and the pro-link swingarm, but what changes compared with the most prestigious versions is the suspension. On the front, there is a Showa BPF (Big Piston Fork) and on the rear, we find a Showa BFRC (Balance Free Rear Cushion). The compression, rebound and spring preload are fully adjustable with all the setting on the upper part for the fork, adjustments that are naturally also available for the rear monoshock. It weighs in at 196 kg with a full tank of petrol.
