Dovizioso: Lorenzo? his limitation is having only ridden the Yamaha

The penultimate "day" of school begins tomorrow in Malaysia for the MotoGP riders, with 2016 almost over. This doesn't mean however that riders have lost their motivation.  At least, not in Andrea Dovizioso's case, “maybe others do, but I don't have that problem. My batteries never run down, at no point during the season. A lot depends on how things are going and right now they're going well".

Yet it's impossible not to think about the future which, for Dovi, will mean working alongside Lorenzo. Many are asking how Lorenzo will fair on the Ducati.

This is bar chat” warns Dovi, before giving his opinion: “Jorge has spent many years in Yamaha, without ever riding another MotoGP, and for this reason he may find it tougher“ he comments.

Andrea also came from Yamaha, though his situation was different.

“It was very difficult for me because at the time the bike wasn't working well, the limitations were too great - he recalls - But I'd ridden other MotoGPs in the past, Honda and Yamaha, and this experienced helped a lot".

Iannone will make the move to Suzuki.

He too, like Lorenzo, has only ridden one MotoGP - he continues - It's difficult for me to say how he'll get on, having never ridden the Suzuki. Their bike seems to have improved a lot recently, I thought they'd also modified the engine but they tell me no”.

As a result of the results achieved this year, Suzuki will lose its concessions.

“It's an important advantage when you have to make up a big gap, but otherwise it doesn't make much difference”, he explains.

Dovizioso then gets back to the task in hand, Sepang.

We always race on the same track so I'm curious to see the changes made”.

The track has been resurfaced and the incline of certain turns has been modified, particularly that of the last turn.

I still have to go out on my scooter, but I have an idea of how it is - he says - A countersloping turn always created problems for a bike, because you can't attack on entry or on exit”.

Despite the unknowns, Dovi is feeling confident.

“Sepang is one of my favourite tracks and the last two races have gone well. At the Aragon GP we were able to improve bike setup and we're stronger”.
