It was 23 October of 2011 when, on the Sepang track, Marco Simoncelli left us forever. Team Gresini, for which Sic raced, decided to remember him at Phillip Island with a sticker on the top fairing of all the bikes on the grid.
Baustista and Bradl in MotoGP, Lowes in Moto2, Bastianini and Di Giannantonio in Moto3 have a Sic58 sticker on their bikes.
Fausto Gresini said: “Five years ago our Marco left us. It is a very sad day on which the memory of those terrible moments return. Moments that I will never be able to forget. Our activity has always continued in his name and today we would like to remember him doing what he loved to do: racing. Today Sic will go out on the track with us, right here in Australia, on a track where he took a splendid second place. It was a result that had made him enthusiastic. I remember that he left for Malaysia incredibly charged up, ready to conquer the world! Ciao, Marco. We miss you very much.”
