Petrucci: Tomorrow I want to go on the attack

The doubts that tormented Petrucci before arriving at Phillip Island have been completely forgotten. Danilo had to battle in the worst of conditions and he achieved the satisfaction of being the best Ducati rider in qualifying with his 6th place.

It is a nice satisfaction, but I would have been able to take even the front row” the Pramac rider says.

What did not work to perfection?
I went out with wet tyres, but I was lucky because I was behind Marquez and I saw that he had the intermediates and he went back to the garage, so I did too.

Did you switch to slicks?
No, because the bike was not ready. I went out with the intermediates and asked the guys on the team to get it ready. I did two laps to put a time on the sheets and then I went back in.”

You lost a bit of time...
I could have risked more. If I had been able to do another lap with the slicks, the front row would have been within my potential. Anyway, I’m happy. The team did a really good job. It was not easy for them to be ready. Today it stopped and started raining 40 times. Tomorrow I would like to reward them with a nice result.”

Will the race be a lottery?
It is impossible to know what the weather will do tomorrow, but I feel competitive both in the dry and in the wet. Today I did not want to do anything stupid. During the winter tests here, I got caught up in the enthusiasm and I crashed like a dunce. I went consistently at 99% until the last lap.

Will you give 100% tomorrow?
It will be difficult because we have not done many laps in practice, but in any case, I noticed a few problems that we also had in the tests. We will need to solve them in warmup and I would like a dry race.

Outsiders like you could have a nice chance with a lot of the big names starting from behind…
Instead of planning the battle, I want to go on the attack. In these conditions, you also have to be a bit reckless. I’ll try to turn one blind eye, if not both.
