MotoGP, Petrucci: I've beaten my demons

Petrucci: I've beaten my demons

Danilo Petrucci has got his smile back in the Phillip Island rain. The memory of his crash - and subsequent injury - during winter testing was still clear in his mind and the only way to get over that was to face it head on, aboard his Ducati.

I'm pleased in this respect, I needed to make a good start without the demons of February's crash and the wet" confirms the Italian.

The wet was your strong point…
This morning I hated the rain, recently I've lost some of my shine in these conditions. I went out and took things calmly and gradually gained confidence. Then it really started to rain heavily, but I was able to improve on my time anyway”.

Does missing a session create problems?
“It won't make too much difference if it continues to rain. We need to see what the forecast looks like, but if it's only dry on Sunday, it will be a lottery. That kind of situation can really mix things up and would be quite cool, I wouldn't mind that”.

Was it impossible to ride this afternoon?
I made one exit to continue to build my confidence in the wet. But on the straight, in fifth gear, the rear wheel was sliding and the same in sixth. You're going more than 300 km/h and need to enter the turn at 200, riding in those conditions is stupid".
