Redding: "Petrucci lost his mind"

Their Sunday was compromised after less than one lap. Danilo Petrucci and Scott Redding both started from the top ten, meaning they had every chance of obtaining a positive result on Spanish soil. Contact between the pair on lap one sent the hopes of the Pramac riders up in smoke, with them ultimately finishing the race in 17th and 19th position.

There were fireworks post-race, with the Brit quick to speak out against his team-mate, as reported by crash.net. Redding didn't mince his words: “This time Danilo lost his mind – he declared – we made contact before the end of lap one, though we almost didn't have to wait for turn 12, as we had already only just missed touching at turn seven. I would never have expected such a thing from a team-mate”.

The English rider pressed on: “It's not the the first time he's made a similar kind of move – he added – it already happened in Austria, when he caused Laverty to crash on the last lap.” The atmosphere is undoubtedly frosty in the Pramac garage: “I've lost respect for him, he couldn't even come and apologise – states Redding - this kind of behaviour creates a really shit atmosphere within the team”.

The two riders are competing for the Ducati GP17 for next season, and now that the rivalry has stepped up a level, the upcoming triple-header promises to be hotter than ever for the Tuscan team. The first of the four rounds that will decide their future will take place in two weeks' time, in Japan.
