Lorenzo: Marquez is two steps ahead of the rest

Jorge Lorenzo is under no illusions. The front row he earned at Aragón is a good result, but it is not enough to let him sleep in peace. On the flying lap he was able to exploit the tyre and the bike, but the race is shaping up to be an uphill battle.

I knew that I could do well in qualifying and set my sights on the front row - he recounts - With the soft tyres I am able to ride well.

With the hard, on the other hand?
Everything becomes more complicated. I struggle a lot more than the other riders. Here Michelin has brought tyres that are too hard for me and my riding style. In fact, I think that the softer tyre on the rear may be an option for me in the race.

So Marquez is uncatchable?
Right now he is one or even two steps ahead of the rest. Don’t misunderstand. In MotoGP anything is possible and I remember what happened two years ago. In practice I had a lot of trouble, but on Sunday I won, thanks to a flag-to-flag race.

In normal conditions what are you expecting?
The Yamaha has a lot of trouble with the lack of grip on the rear. That also stresses the front tyre and the bike takes a wider line. Here it is even worse because we don’t have grip at the front or at the back.”

Is using the soft tyre a solution?
I definitely do better, but after a few laps that tyre is practically destroyed on the right side.
