The sixth fastest time set by Andrea Iannone in first free practice at Aragon hasn't helped him to decide whether or not to race this weekend.
"I was fast right away, I didn't expect that - said the Maniac - the problem is that I'm in a lot of pain and gradually lose my strength. It's not a question of completing two or three laps. The race is something else. Sure, I could take painkillers and antibiotics to help, but I don't know if this will help me".
A statement that opens the door to Michele Pirro, currently waiting on the sidelines at Aragon. The Ducati test rider might step in for the factory rider if he were to decide against racing.
"Yes, I must decide in the next few hours - confirms Andrea - the doctor is keener than I am, saying I can do it, but I know that, with my back like it is, I won't be able to ride as I want. The pain is limiting my instinct".
If, however, Iannone decides to take part in FP2, to try and get a better understand of his physical condition, Pirro will only have Saturday work on the setting and build confidence with the track. Not a lot of time, but Michele is used to jumping from one bike to another, from one championship to another. He is used to doing the impossible.
