OFFICIAL: Niccolò Antonelli with KTM from 2017

September, the contract signing month. After Bastianini’s move to Estrella Galicia and the promotion of Andrea Locatelli to Moto2 with Italtrans, today was Niccolò Antonelli’s day. As we had already mentioned, the rider from Cattolica will be the new standard-bearer for the KTM team from Aki Ajo.

He will replace Brad Binder, shooting more and more for the Moto3 championship title. Currently on the Ongetta-Rivacold team, Antonelli was protagonist this season of a historic win in Qatar for the first race of the year. Then some difficulties conditioned his 2016 season.

Now he is lying tenth in the Championship standings, but he is already chomping at the bit to be off on his next adventure: “I am very happy to have reached an agreement with Red Bull KTM Ajo. This is a dream come true - he said - there have been numerous champions on this team and I want to grow as much as possible.”

Antonelli has very clear ideas: “The goal is to battle for the win in every race or try to get on the podium - he said - I want to improve and I will fight with all my strength. It is definitely exciting to get back on a KTM. The bike will be very different from the one I rode in 2014, but I can’t wait to get in the saddle.”
