Who says that an eighty year-old motorcycle is only good for a quiet Sunday ride or a parade? Try giving it to a double world champion like Troy Corser and watch what happens.

The organizers of the Goodwood Festival of Speed put the Australian on a nineteen thirties era BMW R5 SS for the Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy and the crocodile put his ‘old lady’ to the test. Knee dragging on the ground and throttle wide open, with the boxer's cylinders just centimetres from the asphalt: that is the result. In practice, Troy wreaked havoc until the clutch begged for mercy.

In the race (in the wet) on the other hand, Corser went too far. In his attempt to overtake John McGuinnes, a highside hurled him to the ground. No damage for him and just a few scratches for the bike, but much applause from the crowd.
