Loris Baz: "I'll rest up and be ready for Misano"

Loris Baz wants to be on track at Misano for the San Marino Grand Prix this coming weekend.

After the serious accident at the start of the Silverstone MotoGP race, in which an innocent Pol Espargarò was also caught up, the tall French rider is feeling good and is only a little beaten up.

“We were on the same row, Pol and I – explained Baz – and when he pulled away I moved alongside him, lining up to pass him at the next corner but unfortunately Petrucci, who was ahead of me, surprised me by braking early. I tried to avoid him but, by moving aside, there was no way to avoid Pol. I have to apologise to him”.

The images of the incident were so dramatic, with pieces of the bikes spread across the track, that we were worried about Loris at first. We were able to breathe a sigh of relief however when he was lifted into the ambulance on a gurney, as the Frenchman was able to signal that he was OK with his right hand.

“To tell the truth, I had some memory loss at the time, so they wanted to carry out a CAT scan, but it didn't show anything. Now I just have pain in one foot, a sprained ankle and a grazed thigh. I'll rest up and be ready for Misano!”
