The final pieces are finally slotting into place. After the arrival of Melandri in Ducati and that of Bradl in Honda, today it's all about Michael van der Mark. It's now official: the Dutch rider will be the new Yamaha rider from 2017, alongside Alex Lowes.

The young rider, class of 1992, is wasting no time, having arrived in the SBK class just last year after three years in Supersport: “I'm really excited about this new challenge with Yamaha  - he declared - I've had chance to see the potential of the R1 during its first season and am convinced that, with further development, we'll be able to fight for the title next year”.

Before that, however, he needs to focus on the upcoming Lausitzring round: “It's never an easy decision to leave a winning team – he added – I will never forget the support I've received from the team over the years. For this reason, I'll be giving it my all in the final part of the season, trying to score as many podiums as possible".
