Marquez: to improve I 'copied' Lorenzo

It's good to be Marc Marquez at Brno, the miracle man who is able to snatch what appeared to be an almost certain pole from Lorenzo and even overtake a rider (Valentino no less) on his flying lap.

In the Spaniard's world, reality surpasses fantasy, even though he is sometimes the first to be amazed: “before we started qualifying, the front row would have been enough for me - he admits - The time Lorenzo set this morning was insane and I didn't know if I could beat that. I have to say that Valentino's slipstream really helped me. Perhaps I lost something in the last corner with Pol but made up more in the slipstream”.

His fourth pole of the season, but that's not the best news of the day for the championship leader.

“I'm pleased with pole but more pleased with how the final practice session went - he explains - I changed set-up and went a lot better on used tyres, now I feel ready for fight at least for the podium”.

Though he's not the fastest.

Lorenzo, Valentino and Iannone have a tenth or two more, but that's better than the half second I was losing this morning - he observes - It will be difficult for me to make passes, because I'm losing a lot in acceleration, so it's important to start out front”.

To improve, Marquez copied… Lorenzo.

“He's the quickest at the track and has a very fluid style, so I tried to ride like him. Not exactly like him of course - he laughs - but I came closer. I found better fluidity and grip with the used tyres".

But there are still problems and Marc uses the rear brake to limit them.

"I use it along the straight to prevent wheelieing, in contrast to the Yamaha and Ducati riders”.

Proving that, even with the brakes on, Marquez is fast…
