Danilo Petrucci has been punished with a three place grid penalty at the upcoming Czech Grand Prix at Brno.
The Pramac-Ducati rider, was deemed as being to blame for Eugene Laverty's crash, having touched him in braking at the final corner, turn 10, on the last lap.
"His behaviour was considered to be irresponsible and as such he will be punished in accordance with article 1.21.2 of the Sporting Regulation with a three place grid penalty and 1 penalty point, according to article 3.2.1. of the FIM disciplinary code".
Petrux chose not to appeal and instead apologised to his rival.
"Firstly I want to apologise to Eugene for having hit him- he said - I didn't want to pass him and was just trying to attack but I lost the front and had to come off the brakes, hitting him and causing him to crash. I'm really sorry. It was a very difficult weekend. I never found the right set-up. In the race I wasn't bad in terms of times but made some errors at the start. The important thing it that it's over. Brno is in one week and I can't wait to race."
Scott Redding was happier than his team-mate, having finished 8th.
"I had to work a lot with the mapping to be able to complete the race with fuel. I had a good battle with Smith as I was able to gain an advantage on the straights while he caught up in other areas."
