Team Avintia has decided to put their money on Hector Barbera and Loris Baz again next year. With his good results in the first part of the season (and 7th in the overall standings, the best Ducati rider), the Spaniard earned a contract renewal as well as a Desmosedici GP (A.K.A. the GP16, the one that the two Andreas currently use).
“I’m very happy because I think that we have shown a big progression over the last few years - says Barbera - The team and I grew together, so I’m extremely happy to sign a new contract for next season because we’ll finally have a competitive bike, and we will be able to fight for something big.”
The team also decided to continue placing their trust in Baz, who has not been shining particularly brightly this year.
“First of all I want to say big thanks to the team for offering me another opportunity, because with the poor races we had so far, ninety per cent of the teams would have decided to send me back home - admits the Frenchman who will be riding a GP15 in 2017 - The fact that my future is now decided takes a lot of pressure from me, because after my injury it was not easy. I feel really good with the team and I think we can show more than what we have seen so far.”
