Iannone: regrets? full support from Ducati through Valencia

Last days of holiday for Andrea Iannone with the dual Austria-Czech Republic tour just around the corner. Two circuits, the Red Bull Ring and Brno, where the Red bikes have what it takes to do well, if not make the big strike - in other words, take the win - that they have been chasing since last year.

And if Andrea has his 4th place 2015 finish on the Czech track on the record behind Lorenzo, Marquez and Rossi, on the Austrian track he can boast the best time in the recent tests when everyone was there except for the Honda-HRC.

"All the Ducatis did well, including Dovizioso and Stoner. It is a circuit that suits our bike very well and that I personally liked straight away - admits the Maniac - but it is also true that a test is a test and the races are something else."

More than well: Stoner admitted that he fell trying to improve his time, and if Casey isn’t a point of reference...

"Well, I don’t know why he fell. Let’s just say that, thanks to that result, my team and I have a certain amount of confidence. We did a good job."

Is there anything else?

"We will need to see what tyres Michelin brings, whether they will be the same ones that we tested or others."

Speaking of which: the Australian complained a bit about the safety of the Red Bull Ring. Is it really dangerous?

"The fact is that we have gotten used to a very high standard, thanks to the Safety Commission and Dorna, but the track has been improved a lot compared to the way it was. Let’s just say that there are still some things that need to be done, but certainly not in time for the race. .

What are the points in question?

"From the edge of the asphalt and the grass, the walls are quite close, especially on the straights."

We are at the mid-season point. Do you have any regrets in having to change team and bike at the end of the season?

"Well, I have always said that I am happy to be with Ducati. It is where I began and grew as a rider. A family for me. Unfortunately, the season began in a certain way and we have had some difficult times, but I have always felt motivated to give one hundred percent. And I will give it until the end of the season, confident that through Valencia, Ducati will always give me one hundred percent."
