Honda puts their money on Nicky Hayden for the Suzuka 8 Hours

The American is back after 13 years with van der Mark and Takahashi with him, for F.C.C. TSR Aegerter is on board

Honda puts their money on Nicky Hayden for the Suzuka 8 Hours

Honda has unveiled their reserves for the 39th edition of the Suzuka 8 Hours, scheduled for 31 July on the historic Japanese track. The brand with the gold wing logo has a great desire to win after last year’s edition, where Yamaha took home the victory.

On this occasion, the squad will once again rely on the MuSASHi RT HARC-PRO team, who will have the HRC tester and All Japan SBK vice-champion, Takumi Takahashi on the track for the occasion. The young Dutch rider, Michael van der Mark will be riding alongside him, winner in 2013 and 2014 with Leon Haslam, whereas the real surprise is Nicky Hayden.

After his unfortunate experience in 2003, when the American was forced to throw in the towel, here he is again at the start of the 8 Hours a full 13 years later, with his sights set on the top step of the podium. The last American rider to win was Colin Edwards in 2002. The time has come to break the fast.

For the occasion, Honda will also be relying on the PH.C. TSAR team. Kazuma Watanabe and American Patrick Jacobsen, currently busy in Superbike, as well as Swiss rider Dominique Aegerter will be on board, fresh from his second place finish a year ago.
