SBK, SS RACE: Sofuoglu runs away with it

A comfortable win for Sofuoglu, Jacobsen and Krummenacher second and third, unable to bother him

SS RACE: Sofuoglu runs away with it

He didn't make the best start, but only needed three corners: Kenan Sofuoglu, after making his only pass of the race to get in front of Jacobsen, immediately made a break for it, dictating the pace and managing his advantage. Only towards the end of the race did Kenan start to suffer with tyre wear but, like the champion he is, he reacted quickly and crossed the line as the winner, wheelieing past the front of the Puccetti garage: “The whole race went well, only the left side of the tyre was destroyed… it wasn't difficult to win, if I'm honest”. The only thing more truthful than that are the timesheets and the final standings, which see Kenan out front and chasing his umpteenth world title.

Jacobsen put on a spectacular show to close second, while the podium was rounded out by Swiss rider Krummenacher.

Fourth for Gino Rea in front of Stapleford, sixth for Smith and Baldolini was the first Italian across the line, in seventh, with the privateer MV in front of the factory MV of Cluzel, eighth, who just beat Badovini to the line.

Championship standings: Sofuoglu 121, Krummenacher 95, Jacobsen 76
