Jonathan Rea and Kawasaki together for two more seasons. The World Champion has signed to extend his adventure with Akashi-based manufacturer until 2018. A relationship that, over a year and a half, has brought the Brit to the world title at his first attempt (with record points scored in the process) and to leading the current championship with a 35-point advantage over second-placed Chaz Davies.

It goes without saying that both parties are pleased with the contract reneweal:"I'm pleased to continue the adventure with the guys and fans of the Kawasaki Racing Team" said Rea after signing. "We have similar goals and working methods and so it made perfect sense for me to stay here for another two seasons, I'm 100% sure that we can do more  to develop the Kawasaki in the near future. I thank Kawasaki and all the KRT staff for their belief in my potential." Now there is only one goal: "I'm more focused than ever  on winning the SBK championship."

Steve Guttridge, Sporting Director for Kawasaki Europe, declared: "With Jonathan there's almost a magical harmony within the team. Proof of this are the many wins obtained in a relatively short space of time. He's created good chemistry with the guys in his team, because he is a rider who knows what team-work means. This is why we believe that having him with us for two more seasons gives us the complete package."

Mention is also made of Johnny's teammate Tom Sykes: "We have two great riders in KRT  -  commented Guim Roda, KRT Team ManagerTwo world champions, and the aim is to keep them both for the next two years. Rea is an expert rider with a young spirit and great motivation, open to learning and improving race after race."
