SBK, Davies does the double at Imola

Win number two for Chaz, as he left the Kawasakis and others for dust

Davies does the double at Imola

Some people thought that the overnight rain might mix things up at Imola today, but that was not the case – the second race of the weekend and a second runaway win for Welshman Chaz Davies, unbeatable and unreachable around the Santerno track, Ducati’s home.

Aside from the fantastic result, an incredible double win, what was most striking was the way in which Davies dominated: from the practices to the races, in any temperature or weather condition, Chaz was always aware of his potential and that of his Ducati Panigale, perfectly set-up as ever.

The winner was able to built an advantage with the hard tyres and manage the race without any trouble, with the Kawasaki pair unable to even get close. Over the Imola weekend the green bikes competed for second and third place, having given up on the win. With this formidable double, Davies closes the gap from Rea and is just 34 points from the leader, meaning that the title fight is still very much alive.

In parc ferme Davies’ reaction: "proud to have brought the company a double win at their home track."

Rea crossed the line in second, followed by teammate Sykes in third. Fourth for Giugliano, who completed a solid race, eleventh for Savadori.
