The SBK Commission targets 'false' entries to other championships as a way of getting around test regulations

The SBK Commission, responsible for setting the championship regulations, has chosen to intervene when it comes to the question of testing, in cases where a rider participates in another championship, such as Endurance or MotoGP.

The problem arises when this participation is used as a way to get around the testing restrictions.

The SBK Commission has clarified the spirit of the championship that is“very clear on the point that riders/teams participating to other FIM World Championships (MotoGP, Endurance) will not be affected provided that their participation in these championships are real and not an excuse to test the SBK machines.”

“The SBK Commission members agree unanimously to clarify the practice restrictions in SBK so that the riders participating in the complete event of another FIM World Championship are not affected by the SBK practice restriction rules.”

In other words, rider should not ‘pretend’ to be registered for a race and then only take part in the practice, with the intention of getting around the current regulations.

Other regulatory changes regard penalties in the case of a jump start, with SBK aligning itself with what has just been decided in MotoGP. Race Direction is no longer obliged to communicate a jump start within the first four laps but only as soon as possible, and the penalty in terms of time will be established before the start of the race.

It has also been decided that the list of engines used by each rider will be made public.

In addition – and this regards SBK, Supersport and Superstock – there are changes with regard to the start procedure.

At the 3-minute board, generators must be disconnected and taken off the grid, with a maximum of two mechanics, and one person holding the umbrella, allowed to remain alongside the rider

At the one-minute board, stands and tyre warmers must be removed and, if a team causes a delay to this procedure, it can be penalised.
