MotoGP, Ducati-Lorenzo announcement at Jerez: Jarvis the clue

The Yamaha manager is invited to the press conference at the Spanish GP, an event usually reserved for riders

Ducati-Lorenzo announcement at Jerez: Jarvis the clue

Agatha Christrie, who knew all about mysteries, liked to say, “a clue is a clue, two clues are a coincidence, three clues are proof." Now we just have to understand how many clues there are regarding Lorenzo's contract with Ducati.

The calm demeanour of Ducati management is the first clue, Valentino Rossi's comments on his team-mate's departure the second. And the third? Well, it arrived today in a rather casual way. Before each Grand Prix, Dorna sends staff an event time schedule.

This is generally only useful in telling you who will attend the Thursday press conference. But this is where the plot thickens. Because this meeting with the press is usually only attended by riders, but not at Jerez...

Joining the riders will be Lin Jarvis, Managing Director for Yamaha and his presence raises suspicion you might say. A team manager is not invited for any old reason, not unless an important announcement is expected, allowing for interaction with the journalists.

The announcement that Lorenzo is leaving Yamaha after a 9-year marriage would be a more than valid reason to put Jarvis in front of the microphone.

Just coincidences? One too many it seems...
