SBK, Rea and Sykes aim to ruin the party on Honda's turf

The Kawasaki pair aim for the top after Aragon: "We need to start winning again"

Rea and Sykes aim to ruin the party on Honda's turf

At the track known as the “University of motorcycle racing”, the Kawasaki will aim to return to winning ways, as seen in the opening rounds of Australia and Thailand. The recent Aragon weekend highlighted the Ducati's growth, with Davies clearly demonstrating that he's a real title contender. A clear message for the Spanish team, and particularly for Johnny Rea, who is currently leading the way with 131 points.

The time has come for him to reconfirm the hierarchy also on track, at a circuit that saw him achieve his second double of the season on the Kawasaki last year: “Assen is a track that adapts very well to the characteristics of the bike – explains the Irishman – in the last race we worked particularly on the set-up, which is now working better with the bike compared to the previous one. This is key  - he continued – because the track is very technical and so it really makes the difference”.

Rea also asks the weather to be kind: “The weather plays an important part, and we hope it stays consistent – he concludes – the season's well underway and we need to get back to winning ways to relaunch the title fight."

His team-mate Tom Sykes has similar goals. The Kawasaki rider is aware of the difficulties he faced in Spain but is now convinced that things are changing for the better: “In the past we've always been consistent and fast at Assen – he states – the track brings out our strengths, despite some set-up issues at Aragon but we can fix these in the near future. Everything feels quite positive – he concludes - we have the potential to score an important result.”
