An interesting SBK statistic shows that, during this weekend's Assen round, Jonathan Rea could move into second place in the classification for longest period of time - or number of races - spent leading the production-derived series, a position currently held by Carl Fogarty.
After Aragon, the Kawasaki rider is currently third, having led the championship for 30 Races, preceded by just two of the category's legends, in the shape of "King"Carl Fogarty and Troy Bayliss. If all goes to plan, Johnny could leave the Dutch TT track in joint second position with Fogarty. The 4-time world champion's run came between 1994 and '95, when he led the championship, on board his 916, for 32 GPs, also scoring two of his titles in the process. For Rea, who holds a 26-point advantage over Chaz Davies and 28 over team-mate Tom Sykes, he will need to finish in front of his direct rivals in at least one of the Assen weekend's Races.
Topping this particular classification is Australian Troy Bayliss who spent 41 Races at the front of the pack during the period spanning 2001 and 2002.
