In Argentina the Ducati came in for more criticism over the large spoilers attached to the fairing. When Andrea Iannone 'touched' Marc Marquez's back with one of them, questions were immediately raised about the risks of these aerodynamic appendages.

Loris Capirossi also waded into the debate, declaring that "In a collision they could become dangerous. I went to the Ducati garage to check the solidity of the spoiler, they gave me an old fairing and it does in fact seem impossible to break the wing".

It's clear from the photo that the front left spoiler is missing, lost in the first part of the race during the contact with Marc Marquez.

In the meantime in Austin,  the Honda has also debuted new spoilers on its RC213-V, no longer mounted low down on the fairing but higher on the front fairing. QED Ducati.

But are they really so indispensable? And, if they break, what effect will unbalanced aerodynamics have on riding? When asked about it Iannone stated:"it's the first thing my technicians asked me. In reality I must admit that I barely noticed".
