MotoGP, Rossi: Lorenzo in Ducati, he's got guts

Valentino comments on the as yet unannounced move. "The situation is similar to mine when I made the same choice"

Rossi: Lorenzo in Ducati, he's got guts

The situation is somewhat surreal: Lorenzo will move to Ducati, but no-one wants to talk about it. Or almost no-one. Starting with the interested party himself, his words being: “nothing's changed from when we were in Argentina, I have no news”.

The Spaniard continued on in this vein, avoiding the questions with a smile: “I've told you, I'm not talking about my future. I'm pleased because I have more than one offer, I'm evaluating the situation and you'll know when I've decided”.

But Jorge was then exposed by his team-mate. In truth Valentino played dumb during the conference, “no-one wants to talk about Lorenzo and Ducati, and so neither will I".

Later, while speaking with the Italian press, he commented: “are you saying he's signed? It's a brave decision - indirectly confirming the news - I wish both him and Ducati the best of luck. Jorge is a fast rider, he rides well and he will do the same there”.

Rossi didn't seem too surprised, “I'm not sure whether to be”, he joked. He then referred back to when he made the same decision: “at that time I'd spoken with Preziosi who was offering me an interesting project. Ducati was competitive with Stoner, they needed to make the bike easier to ride. In addition, I'd spent many years with Yamaha and I needed new motivations. In one sense, Lorenzo is in a similar situation to mine at that time”.

But it's the situation in Ducati that is now different.

"Dall’Igna is now there. He's someone who uses his head and he's improved the bike a great deal in recent years. The Ducati is competitive and has shown this in the last two races”.

With Lorenzo in Ducati, the last seats are waiting to be filled.

“I wouldn't know who will stay in Ducati - commented Valentino - Who will come to Yamaha? I don't mind who it is.Vinales is one of the strongest riders, he has great talent, we get along, I can say the same about Iannone”.

After many comments about Lorenzo's future, what does Jorge have to say? “I don't know what Valentino said, perhaps he has more information than I do”.

For now the Majorcan is keeping quiet.
