Pernat hard on Dovi, Stoner and Rossi

Wednesday, 01 September 2010 11:24 by Ernesto Emmi

As always, Italian manger Carlo Pernat shares his brutally honest opinion about the Grand Prix of Indianapolis with GPone.  This time he had words of praise for Dani Pedrosa, shared his view of the Dovizioso situation at Honda, and judged Rossi and Stoner's performances as sub par.

It was a very hot grand prix – Pernat told us - everyone underestimated Pedrosa from a psychological standpoint.  We all knew he was very strong technically, but mentally he has improved to a level equal to the others.  Honda have given him a missile which he has found a way to ride, but Andrea isn't able to ride it in the same way.  This is a problem for Andrea, because even if he has a contract in his favor, he will have to accept, and quickly, that he will be moved to Team Gresini alongside Simoncelli, although still on a factory bike of course."

So Pernat's advice to Dovi is, essentially, to stop fighting it and accept his fate. He then added:

One of the more negative performances was that of Stoner, who has been crashing a lot this year.  He isn't sorted out mentally, and after all of these years racing, if he isn't mentally strong now he never will be.  Let's hope that Honda made a good decision. They will be getting a good rider, but they will have to work with him regarding the psychological aspect.  Then there is Rossi:  I think that Rossi made a big mistake by wanting to come back too soon.  He was supposed to return to racing at Misano, but he couldn't stand sitting at home and watching Lorenzo win all the time. He rushed his return and now is paying the consequences. Physically I don't think he could do any better than what he has shown."
