"Rossi should be earning more"

Thursday, 26 August 2010 22:26 by rm

At last year's GP of Indianapolis, Jorge Lorenzo appeared as Capitan America.  This time the Spaniard has decided to go for the more trendy Ironman look.  Making the announcement was none other than the rider himself (on twitter of course).

Jorge's objective for the race is to maintain his status as the only rider who has finished in every race this season.  That every one of those finishes was on the podium merely makes the feat all the more impressive.

“Of course it wont be easy, but it won't be impossible either – the Spaniard said – we will need to avoid problems like the one we had at Sachsenring (where he broke an engine, ed.), or mistakes on my part.  Especially crashes, since the consequences could be longer term.  Rossi is the obvious example:  he made one mistake at Mugello and it compromised his entire championship."

The 77 point lead that Lorenzo enjoys over Pedrosa is reassuring though.

“It's true, this championship is mine to win or lose.  But Dani, even if I make a lot of mistakes, would still have to win most of the remaining races."

As he said at Brno, there will be no announcement here about his future with Yamaha, even if it isn't in doubt.

“I have always felt wanted by Yamaha – Lorenzo continued – I know that Valentino Rossi will continue to earn more than me next year, but this is only right.  It is normal.  He has won seven premier class world championships, and I still haven't won any."
