The Rimini District Attorney, Paolo Giovagnoli, has opened an investigation into the death of Japanese rider Shoya Tomizawa, during the Moto2 GP of San Marino. The possibility exists that charges could be brought against certain individuals, as of now unnamed. According to the Ansa news agency:
The Magistrate, after an external evaluation of the rider's body on Monday, will soon conduct a full autopsy: the aim, apparently, is to determine if the rider's death was in any way related to him having been dropped while on the stretcher, as one of the marshals lost his footing in the gravel run-off area. Additionally, based on the video footage from the event, and statements from the marshals, track doctors, circuit officials and Dorna employees, he will attempt to determine if the medical intervention was timely and adequate. And inspection of the circuit has already been carried out by the Rimini traffic police, as is the normal procedure for any vehicular fatality.
