MotoGP, Rossi: "Faster than last Sunday, but not fast enough"

Not even one point for Valentino: "I can't be happy, but when you start behind everything is difficult. I hope the situation improves in Europe."

MotoGP: Rossi:

When things get off to a bad start, it’s difficult for them to get better. For Valentino the Doha GP started with him on the penultimate place on the grid and finished with a 16th place at the chequered flag. Instead of a stone, Rossi will probably now have to put a boulder on a weekend that failed to give him even one satisfaction.

“I can't be happy, when you start from the back it's not easy - he was forced to admit - I lost too much time in the first laps, I wasn't fast enough with the new tyres while there were a lot of riders and bikes that were. Honestly, I expected more ”.

It can’t be said that the warm-up had illuded him, but at least it had offered a shred of hope…

“I found something better - he continued - Instead I didn't even get a point and it was a difficult race. We still have to find more grip at the rear with the soft tyre. I was faster than last Sunday, but not fast enough ”.

Rossi tried hard to find some positive points…

"I was able to be more consistent, after returning to an electronics configuration in the warm-up that I hadn't used for a long time - he explained - I took a step forward from Saturday, but it was too late. Before the start, I expected to be in the top 10, in the group together with Morbidelli and the Hondas, but it was more difficult than expected ”.

The Doctor was not happy: "The only thing that matters are the results. We have to improve and keep working, we can do it".

In two weeks MotoGP will return to Europe, where it will start from Portimao.

"There are tracks that I like, but it is difficult to make predictions - he said - In theory it could go better, I hope above all that we will have a normal championship, that Covid does not cause the races to be cancelled and forces us to race twice on the same track".

One final comment was for Quartararo…

"Fabio had a fantastic race, he was strong also last Sunday".
