MotoGP, Quartararo: "Vinales was from another planet, I had Rossi's problem"

"Just like Valentino, my tire dropped a lot and suddenly. Anyway I finished 5th on a difficult day, last year I either crashed or I didn't score points"

MotoGP: Quartararo:

Fabio Quartararo's race was a two-sided affair, up and down and difficult to classify. In the end, the Frenchman, making his debut with the Yamaha factory team, finished in fifth position behind the Suzuki of world champion Mir but ahead of Alex Rins. How does Fabio judge his race?

"At the beginning I felt really strong and after passing Miller I thought I could easily get to Zarco but from then on I had a total drop in the tire. It was a disaster and from there I had to manage my race”.

What do you think of your teammate's victory?

“Today Maverick was from another planet, he had more grip than me but I thought the tire drop was coming for him too. I will have to look at the data to see if he rode more fluidly and lighter than me but honestly it seemed to me that I didn't attack the tires too much. I think I had the same problem as Rossi, he also dropped a lot ”.

However, on a bad day, you managed to finish in an encouraging position. Better than last year, right?

"Exactly. This is what 2020 taught me, even when things go wrong you have to try not to crash or to finish 13th. I am satisfied with this ”.

What can you improve for next week?

“Actually today went well, I certainly have to try to go better in the fourth sector but today that wasn't the problem. Today I had some incredible jolts on the bike, it's as if it were more physical than usual ”.
