Moto3: Paolo Simoncelli confirms that Tatsuki Suzuki is positive for Covid

Paolo Simoncelli entrusted the presentation of the SIC58 Squadra Corse programs for 2021 to a press release. As in his usual style, it was not the usual sloppy note, but a sort of open letter written in his own hand. It was an opportunity to talk about the plans for the season that is about to begin (not only in the World Championship, but also in the CEV and the European Talent Cup) and also to give some bad news: Tatsuki Suzuki has tested positive for Covid.

We leave you with the words of Paolo Simoncelli.

Dear all,

I wished I could have met you at a very nice team presentation, as per our habit, and to hug all of you, together with my multi-ethnic team. But that was not an option, and you all are aware of the reasons. I’ve decided to prepare something online in Qatar, in order to introduce you to the new faces of this 2021.

Well... We just got another news, that my young age barely accepted: TATSU is POSITIVE!!! Ok. Let’s take a pen and some paper, this is the only option left.

While I was in Valencia for the tests, I found a guy whom I often encounter in the paddock, who was looking perplexed at our truck and asked me how I could manage to get so many sponsors. Well, I immediately corrected him saying: “They’re not just sponsors, through all these years they became part of the team, and above all they are FRIENDS. Yes, friends, with their companies in difficulty, but they still wanted to be with us, no matter what. I can’t hide how excited and touched I am. My job to manage this season’s budget is going to be tough, but I am proud to still have all of you by my side and in the livery of our bikes, which are still the same as last year, and to see the SIC58 logo on your companies’ websites.

I’ve just mentioned a multi-ethnic team, here it is:

1) TATSUKI SUZUKI - JPN

2) LORENZO FELLON - FRA

in the Moto3 World Championship

3) MATTIA CASADEI - ITA

in the MotoE World Championship

4) JOSE JULIAN GARCIA - SPA

5) SENNA AGIUS - AUS

6) HARRISON VOIGHT - AUS

in the Moto3 Junior World Championship CEV

7) COREY TINKER - UK

in the European Talent Cup ETC

We have riders with a lot of experience who can achieve great results, and young riders, with big enthusiasm, who we will help to grow. We are all ready to give our best. We have amazing mechanics and technicians in our team, ready to work in this silent paddock, with an enormous wish to win; Of course, we can’t hide the fact that we’re a little bit upset with the problem that Suzuki is facing, but this reminds me of what happened back in 2008, 250cc class, when a rider that was aiming at the Title, collected two zeros in a row in the first two rounds, and who later on made us live the best dream!!

Thank you all.
