MotoGP: LIVE - Live coverage of the first day of testing in Qatar minute by minute

The 2021 MotoGP season kicks off today with testing in Qatar on the Losail track. For this first day of testing the official riders won’t be out, but only test riders and rookies, who enjoy this privilege by regulation. So Luca Marini and Jorge Martin will get on their Ducati Desmosedici for the first time, while it is not yet clear if Enea Bastianini will be part of proceedings. The man from Rimini, due to a false result of a swab, was only able to leave for Doha yesterday, arriving in the night. At the airport he underwent another swab and will have to wait for the negative result before he can reach the circuit.

It will be the first opportunity to see all the new bikes on the track, in the hands of the test riders. There will also be something new in their ranks, with Cal Crutchlow on the Yamaha M1 for the first time. Honda, on the other hand, will rely on Stefan Bradl, still in the dual role of tester and team rider since Marc Marquez is still absent. For Ducati the workhorse is Michele Pirro, while Suzuki has an ace up its sleeve with Sylvain Guintoli and Dani Pedrosa will take to the track with the KTM. Thanks to the concessions, Aprilia will be able to ride today with its two men: Aleix Espargarò and Lorenzo Savadori.

Stay tuned for all the updates, trivia, photos and, of course, the times.
