Suzuki's triumph at Valencia was also the weekend of the Yamaha disaster with Fabio Quartararo, Maverick Vinales and Franco Morbidelli all probably simultaneously saying goodbye to the world title and Valentino Rossi retiring again with technical problems. The race was the first without an Iwata bike in the top 10 since Valencia 2007 when Guintoli finished 11th, the same place occupied by Franco Morbidelli. The Petronas team rider paid the price for a difficult day for Yamaha which seemed to be in clear difficulty and prey to problems and technical issues. Concerns must be growing about 2021…

“I believe a lot in the work of Yamaha and my team and therefore I am not worried about next year - Morbidelli told us after the race - I know we go very fast if things go normally. Problems come when there are things that do not allow the bike to show its potential when we are in the race but the package is excellent as are the people who work on it ”.

Still on the subject of 2021: when will we know which bike you will use for next season?

"Razali will say something about this shortly."

Franco, you were the best Yamaha rider at the finish line and you also seem the only one with some confidence at the moment.

“It's part of my character. I never expect anything before a weekend, I'm always in a good mood and I always try to show my best and make the best possible result. Seeing the other Yamahas suffering makes me feel a little better because I know I suffered less than the others and that I was the best at the finish. "

Let's talk about today's race. How did it go?

"Today I suffered because when I was in the group the front tyre pressure skyrocketed, just like it did with Quartararo at Aragon1, and I had to ride safely to get the bike to the finish. Being able to finish the race in the points is still a great satisfaction ”.

The pressure problem on the front, as mentioned, also happened to Quartararo in the Aragon 1 race. Do you know if it happens to the other bikes as well?

“I don't know if the problem I had is only with Yamaha or with the other bikes, I think other bikes also suffer from this problem because the physics are the same for everyone. I don't know how much it affected the performance of the other bikes because I don't even know how important the problem is on the other bikes ”.

Was the choice of tyre decisive for today's race? Do you think it can also be the same for next weekend?

"This morning I did well with the hard rear tyre and so I used it in the race. The temperatures rose more and more but with the pressure problem it was impossible to tell if the choice of tyres was the right one. Today even the choice of a double medium seems to have paid off in the race, the Suzuki made that choice and finished first and second, we'll see what to use next week ”.
