MotoGP, Vinales: “It’s bad starting from the pitlane. I'll try to finish the best Yamaha "

“It is pointless to think about the World Championship, I don’t have the speed. Nothing went right, I wouldn't have done any better than a 7th place. I don’t have anything new for the season finale, in 2021 we will find 4 or 5 strong tracks for us"

MotoGP: Vinales: “It’s bad starting from the pitlane. I'll try to finish the best Yamaha

Maverick Vinales couldn't do anything more at Valencia, with his race compromised right from the off because he was forced to start from the pit lane. The Yamaha man had to settle for thirteenth place in the European GP, a performance that leaves him with a lot of bitterness and disappointment as he was forced to play catch-up all weekend.

“Nothing went right - he said - unfortunately this is the situation and it is difficult to find the right words to give an explanation. In one race you go from fighting for the win to trying to get into the points and that's not good. We are really disappointed, because our goal was to have a nice weekend, but it didn't go the way we hoped ”.

With today, your dreams of winning the world championship dreams have practically vanished...

“There is no point thinking about the World Championship, because we lack the speed, also Mir will have to make a mistake and I have to win. We are not fast, this is the reality. Today I tried to push, avoiding risks; I hope I don't have to to start from the pit lane again, because it's really bad. Apart from that that, I wouldn't have done any better than a seventh place "

At this point all that remains is to focus on the next weekend…

“Next weekend won't be easy for us, maybe it could be even more difficult. But at the same time we might even improve, if the temperatures increase, as well as the grip. We have been talking with Yamaha, they are working, even if for the end of the season there is nothing new to try ”.

Maverick is now looking to the season finale and 2021…

“My goal is to be the best Yamaha at the end of the championship, even if it won't be easy. For 2021 what can I say? For sure we will find 4-5 tracks where we have been strong in the past and we can be again, but I don't know anything more. In Yamaha they are working for next season, we will have to find something to help us make better use of the tyres. But first we have to finish this championship. Next Sunday we will race again in Valencia, then there will be Portimao which I’m curious about. We will have to see what happens ”.
