Tenth place - behind Fabio Quartararo - is the only good thing that can be said about Maverick Vinales’s result in the French GP.

“I lost too much time behind Alex Espargarò. We will have other opportunities in Aragon, but today it was too easy to crash - he explained, adding – The tyre was too soft in front. And I wanted to score points. This race will not count too much for the world championship because I only lost some from Fabio but it is true that it was a good opportunity ”.

But wasted. Maverick in fact started very badly, so much so that on the first lap he was running next to last despite starting with the fifth time from the second row.

"The fact is that I changed my way of starting - he explained - I started without using electronics. I did some tests and it worked well, but then in the race I wasn’t able to reproduce the same start, perhaps due to the noise around me. I'll try again and we'll be fast at Aragon ”.

In fact, nothing or very little is lost: this world championship continues to be an affair amongst all those riders who are doing their very best to lose it…

“The fact is that the Yamaha is difficult in the wet; when you are in the race with the others: on your own it's another thing completely. I preferred to pass only Mir and not bother trying with Fabio so as not to risk crashing. This year anything can happen and now the super good tracks of Aragon and Valencia are arriving. We will arrive there with all the enthusiasm in the world ".
