Fabio Quartararo will take Valentino Rossi’s place on the factory Yamaha team next year while, this season, he’s trying to put Marc Marquez’s number 1 on his fairing. Both champs are an inspiration for the French rider.

Valentino has been an example for me since I was little. He’s my role model,” he  said in an interview with  Marca. “I watched his races. I remember the first one, in 2005 in Jerez, I was 6 years old. At that moment, I said to myself that I wanted to become a MotoGP rider. I’m really passionate, but Rossi is the rider who makes me want to be even more like him. He’s the best example, the one I’ve learned from the most.

But Marquez was also a reference. Starting from last year, when his and Fabio’s paths crossed on the track.

Marc is very strong mentally. It’s a quality you should learn from a top rider. He’s the best rider at the moment,” he declared.

Quartarato then revealed that he’ll celebrate his first MotoGP victory in Jerez in a special way.

At the end of 2019, I said to myself: ‘I want to leave this team with a victory,” he confessed. “I crossed my fingers, so it didn’t take long. I did it in Jerez. I’ll get a tattoo on my arm at the end of the season.
