MotoGP, Lorenzo set to return to the Yamaha at Portimao tests in October

MotoGP: Lorenzo set to return to the Yamaha at Portimao tests in October

Jorge Lorenzo is scheduled to return to the Yamaha and will do so on 7 and 8 October at Portimao, on the occasion of the scheduled tests with the test riders on the Portuguese track. This was confirmed by team manager Massimo Meregalli to motogp.com.

At Misano, the team riders complained that Yamaha hadn't tested at Misano before the Grand Prix together with the other teams and Rossi and Quartararo had wondered why Lorenzo hadn’t been doing any testing recently.

After the test in Malaysia in February, Jorge had not been seen on the track and the coronavirus had deprived him of the possibility of participating in the Barcelona GP as a wild card.

Meregalli explained: The reason we didn't test in Misano was that when the pandemic broke out our test program in Europe was cancelled. Yamaha decided to do all the tests in Japan. Now the situation has changed and we will make an exception. We will take part in the tests at Portimao on 7 and 8 October, because it is a new track that we have no data for and we need to gather information to prepare for the Grand Prix. "
