It’s now commonly called a holeshot: a device that allows you to improve your starting position by lowering the bike’s center of gravity. It was invented by the engineers at Ducati, who then developed the idea and also used it during the lap to improve acceleration. The system works, and their rivals quickly jumped on the bandwagon. Yamaha was the first, and the others followed.

Honda wasn’t on the roll call, but the Japanese engineers introduced it in Misano. As you can clearly see in the video below, Takaaki Nakagami used it for the starting test at the end of the warm up, and the LCR team rider finished in first place.
