Francesco Bagnaia is back with a bang and has seen fit to leave his mark on his first attempt. It was a memorable qualifying session for the Pramac rider, who set sixth time in qualifying at Misano just two thousandths away from Jack Miller's Ducati.

Not a bad performance by the rider from Piedmont, who managed to overshadow the factory Ducatis of Dovizioso and Petrucci.

“I'm happy with this Saturday - he said - we started from where we left off. I think we did a good job, enough to be able to ride without any worries. In FP4 I had a good pace, while in qualifying I dropped a few tenths in T3 and T4. Apart from that, I am satisfied, given that the goal of the morning was to make the top ten".

However, his health condition is the main thing…

“The leg is bothering me and will need to be monitored. At the moment, however, I feel good, even if I have a little discomfort. By staying focused on the bike, I suffer less. Apart from that, I have to say that the Yamahas are really fast here in Misano, especially Vinales and Quartararo, who are making the difference, without forgetting Rossi and Morbidelli. We, on the other hand, are the second force together with the Suzukis”.

Pecco, however, has clear ideas for Sunday…

"I want to finish the race tomorrow, that's my goal, trying to be as far up front as possible and possibly trying to keep some margin in order to get to the chequered flag".

He will start from the second row tomorrow and this does not seem to surprise him at all…

“This season, on Fridays, I always work on the tyres and this helps me to then go and tackle the time attack on Saturday. But yesterday was a different Friday than usual, as I tried to understand my condition and if the leg was holding up or not. Today I was able to ride without any worries, even though inside of me I knew I would be back fast ”.

Therefore, the right confidence transpires from Bagnaia's face.

"At the moment I'm feeling good on the bike, mainly taking advantage of the braking and corner entry. I think this is where I can be stronger than the factory Ducatis. I’m disappointed to have missed the last three races since we could have been ahead ".

While the track is one thing, the other is the rider market, where Bagnaia seems ready to make the jump into the factory team…

"I am focused on myself, trying to be as competitive and fast as possible: the important thing is to go fast".

The last comment was about his competitiveness on a track that hides no secrets for him...

“At Misano I have an advantage over the other riders. Thanks to the Academy we have managed to carry out numerous training sessions and I know it perfectly. Today I was really happy: I was able to be competitive right from the start, getting back to where I wanted to be”.
