MotoGP, Miller: "Dovizioso proved to be a champion and a gentleman"

“He won in a paradoxical situation. My race? Unfortunately, the strategy I had didn't work. I was left with one tire."

MotoGP: Miller:

A second place was in Jack Miller's possibilities at the Red Bull Ring, but a mistake in the final lap compromised the Australian rider's performance. He had to leave his place to Joan Mir, having to settle for the lowest step on the podium.

If, on one hand, there's disappointment for a wasted opportunity, on the other, there's still the awareness of having rediscovered those sensations that the Pramac rider wanted on the bike, following a disappointing weekend like the one in Brno.

If I think about last week, the situation has been reversed," Jack began. "Dovi and I were far from each other in Brno while, here, we both got on the podium. I had a positive feeling all weekend, so much so that I was fast and riding the bike like I wanted. I would have liked to have given Ducati a victory but, unfortunately, it wasn't possible. Andrea, on the other hand, did it and proved that he's a great champion and a gentleman, winning after what happened over the weekend."

At the end of the race, Jack Miller lost head to head with Mir.

Unfortunately, in the final lap, I made a small mistake. I thought Joan was a lot closer, so I rode defensively. In fact, I tried to close every gap in the last laps, since I absolutely didn't want to give him the position, but then I made that mistake and finished third.”

Finally, he spoke of the near-miss tragedy on the track today.

“After that accident, there was debris all over the track. Shortly before we started again, I decided to rely on the soft front tire, since I had no other choice, because there were no more mediums left. In the end, my strategy didn't work out."
