Valentino Rossi has hit his target, thanks to a 5th place in FP3, which puts him directly in the Q2 for this afternoon’s qualification. It wasn’t easy, because the gaps were very narrow, but now the Doctor can look optimistically at qualifying in Brno.
“The FP3 sare always very important, because we have to stay in the top 10. This morning went well, since we’ve improved the bike a lot,” Valentino said. “I have better sensations and a good pace, even with the race tires. The flying lap was good in the end. The level is incredible, because the top 10 is covered by two tenths, so it’s incredible. I did a good lap, and finishing 5th is a good result for this afternoon, and we’ll try to continue like this.”
Maverick Vinales, on the other hand, is more disappointed with his 8th place, which makes him the last of the Yamahas in the rankings.
“My sensations are not quite what I wanted,” the Spanish rider admitted. “I struggle on the bike, it moves a lot, especially the rear tire. We’ll have to try something different in the FP4s. We have an idea that makes me feel very positive. We have a good chance in qualifying. Wwe need to be in the front row. But, in any case, the pace is the most important, so we’ll work on that in the FP4s. I think we have a good chance to be fast, and then we’ll see. I feel really good on the bike. I just don’t have the sensation I had in Jerez. We’re trying to be fast, and we’ll try to give our all in the FP4. and especially in the qualifications.”
