MotoGP, A.Espargarò: "The Aprilia doesn’t have the power for slippery tracks"

"We are on a par with the other bikes but not for the engine. I know it seems stupid after two zeroes but I feel competitive for Brno"

MotoGP: A.Espargarò:

Racing at a circuit where you already took to the track just one week before can lead to two trains of thought. The first is that if you did well you have the potential to do it again, but with everything to lose. The second is that if something went wrong, you could always improve but even in this case there is a lot to lose. One rider who certainly  lost a lot in these two Jerez weekends is Aleix Espargarò who, on the Aprilia, picked up two consecutive zeros in these first two weeks of MotoGP.

"I am very disappointed at the crash - Aleix confessed to us in a post-race conference - I have to apologize to the team because yesterday we had a small problem that they finished fixing around 1 in the morning. I would have liked to have had a good race for them but I couldn't. "

What happened, Aleix? Your start was really convincing…

"Yes, I made a good start, I was feeling good. I overtook Petrucci and Dovizioso who, however, repassed me right away. At that point, also considering last week’s error, I decided to follow the Ducati without exaggerating and I was lapping on their pace but maybe I went a little too close to the limit of this bike ".

Tell us about the crash. Was it your mistake?

"I didn't do anything strange when I crashed, I was just closer to the limit of the bike and I paid for it. With the track so slippery you have to stop the bike more and then accelerate, I don't have the power to do it and this forces me to enter the corners more strongly to keep the speed higher. I'm very sorry, I have never crashed in two consecutive races in MotoGP, it's frustrating "

What are the expectations for Brno and for the continuation of the season now?

"I feel competitive with this bike, I know it may seem stupid after two consecutive crashes but it is like that. The Aprilia is on a par with other bikes if it weren't for the engine, I know we can improve even more."
